to Cancun (CUN)

You'll want to fly to the Cancun International Airport (CUN) no matter what country you're flying from. Many airlines fly to Cancun. We've seen flight prices vary daily so no rush in booking a flight but at least a few weeks in advance is recommended since March 12th falls on many people's spring break. Don't forget to renew your passport!

From CUN to Xcaret

Xcaret is about 50min-1hr away from the airport. If you stay at Hotel Xcaret México or Hotel Xcaret Arte, these resorts include round-trip transportation to and from the airport via shuttle from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm every 30 minutes. If you stay at any place that does not offer round-trip airport transportation, we recommend booking transportation prior to arrival. There are many companies offering private shuttle services that all seem to charge around $100 round-trip (airport-hotel-airport) transportation. Here are some examples but please note that we don't know anything about these companies besides what we've seen online:

Tripadvisor Recommendations

Alternatively, you can take a taxi from the airport. There is also a bus that can take you to Puerto Morelos in Playa del Carmen but it's about a 20 minute walk to any Xcaret Resort. Regardless of what mode of transportation you choose, booking prior to arrival seems to be the most economic option.

COVID-19

Anyone flying back to the US must get tested no more than 1 day before your flight departs and to present the negative result to the airline before boarding the flight. If you recently recovered from COVID-19, you may instead travel with documentation of recovery from COVID-19.

Hotel Xcaret Mexico has COVID-19 tests on site. Hotel Occidental has a testing agreement with Hospiten lab.

All of this is subject to change. We'll update if we know of any changes. For further details, please reference the US Embassy in Mexico site or your country's embassy in Mexico site.

Accommodations

Paty and Matt are staying at the Hotel Xcaret México but you’re welcomed to stay wherever you'd like! All hotels at Xcaret are close to the ceremony and reception.

Xcaret Resorts

Hotel Xcaret México: Recommended to reserve ASAP as prices go up fast. It’s an all-inclusive resort, including food, drinks, plus airport round-trip transportation and free access to all Xcaret Parks: Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses, Xavage, and Xenotes.

Hotel Occidental at Xcaret: Recommended to reserve ASAP as prices go up fast. This is another resort at Xcaret, about 10 min walking distance from Hotel Xcaret México. It by far offers the most flexible and affordable options, with the ability to add an all-inclusive package or not. We've been finding the best prices for this one on barcelo.com, which is their official site.

Hotel Xcaret Arte: Like Hotel Xcaret México, it's also an all-inclusive resort, including food, drinks, plus airport round-trip transportation and free access to all Xcaret Parks: Xcaret, Xel-Há, Xplor, Xplor Fuego, Xoximilco, Xenses, Xavage, and Xenotes. It's about 10 min walking distance from Hotel Xcaret México. It just opened July 2021.

La Casa de la Playa: A new resort that opened up in Xcaret December 2021. It's all-inclusive and adult-only.

Outside of Xcaret Options

Airbnbs and Hotels in Playa del Carmen - Playa del Carmen is about a 15-minute taxi or bus drive away from Xcaret. It’s a very cute, touristy, beach town. Lots of people speak English.

Note: With the exception of Hotel Occidental which seems to have the best prices on its main site, barcelo.com, you can probably find the best prices and flight + hotel packages on sites like Tripadvisor, hotel.com, Costco, Expedia, etc.

Registry

We are so incredibly thankful for the effort you’ll be making to join us for our special day in Xcaret.
